Eskimo Easter Eggs

(Not to be confused with "Cube E")
From Bill M.

In 2002, The Residents re-released their epic album Eskimo as a DVD in 5.1 surround sound. The DVD's contents are listed on the back of the case, which includes "app. 25 Minutes of additional material (Easter Eggs)"! But what constitutes as an "Easter Egg" is not very clear. For example, the "Excerpts from Nanook" clips are not mentioned anywhere on the DVD packaging, yet "Excerpts From Nanook" is listed right on the main menu.

Also, when you select to exit the DVD, you'll come to a menu with "The End" highlighted, and another selection for "Back to Menu". If you select "The End", you see a darkened picture of the Cryptic video logo, then the DVD goes into stop mode. I wouldn't call this an Easter Egg, but it is an amusing curiosity for a DVD.

But yes, there are also some not-so-noticable clips. Overall they were pretty easy to find, and use the same method to be played. I even found some by accident, as I was reading the screens:

Easter Egg How to view it Physical Disc Title:Chapter
"The Esquimaux Village", a one minute silent film by Thomas A. Edison (1901) From the main menu, go to the CREDITS page. Then either 1) wait 20 seconds, or 2) Highlight "Main Menu", press DOWN, then ENTER 6:1
The story of Sedna, a goddess from Inuit mythology. From the main menu, go to the TECHNICAL NOTES page. Then either 1) wait 20 seconds, or 2) Highlight "Main Menu", press DOWN, then ENTER 7:1
Music video for "Diskomo" From the main menu, go to the THE RESIDENTS page. Then either 1) wait 20 seconds, or 2) Highlight "Main Menu", press DOWN, then ENTER 4:1

This makes all the "additional" (non-listed) material actually total about 22 minutes. For those who are curious, here is the non-Easter Egg material which makes up the rest of the DVD:

Feature
Title:Chapter
Cryptic intro 1:1
Eskimo (main program) 2:1 though 2:6
"Nanook" intro 3:1
"Nanook" feature 5:1 through 5:4
